Shakti Divas Dance Group

About Shakti Divas

Shakti Divas are a Bhangra Fusion dance group, developed by CPP Hounslow following local consultation with a wide range of individuals and community groups. It was discovered that the borough has very few opportunities for adults to take part in music and dance groups, and Shakti Divas developed from there.

Bhangra originally comes from north-east India, in the Punjab region. It’s a dance style that was used to celebrate the harvest for farmers, and now a lot of people use it for weddings and other celebrations. Bhangra is a joyous dance that brings people together and Shakti Divas is no exception!

Bhangra fusion combines the traditional style of Bhangra with more contemporary dance styles. Led by experienced dance tutor Rakhi Sood, Shakti Divas explores this unique and joyous dance style in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
